November 2003 HOM Repro

Post by JCass »

Hello all and belated Happy New Year!

Howard's 'Little Glitter House' post found at the link below inspired me to take a crack at a full scale repro of this large coconut.

https://cardboardchristmas.com/forums/v ... ?f=2&t=922

I 'guesstimated' the dimensions based on the info provided in Pete's catalog. Pretty happy with the way the project turned out. The recessed porch was a first for me and Howard's approach worked great! The original color that I painted the based needed 'toned down' a bit so I applied a very VERY light spray of primer, couldnt get the stitching to work on the raffia fence so it is basic dyed raffia glued to cardboard, and the coco on the roof is my very own (but not nearly the quality of Pete's!).

Attached is a pic from Pete's catalog plus two pics of my repro.

John

John,
It is a great reproduction. Wonderful. Where did you get the little girl? Is that one of Pete's castings?

I really like this piece. More. More.

john...
your reproduction is a success!...everything about it says "vintage"...right down to the brushstrokes...(i probably need to get one of those little girl figurines from pete)...oh, by the way...about your homemade coconut...i'd say you have it all figured out...and like you've found out...it's a lot of work...(but pete has it all figured out doesn't he?)...
my very best regards...
