Christmas Tree Barn

Post by BurghGal »

I used Howard's template for the barn, but added a different door. This one isn't a light up type, just a shelf decoration.

Oh, very nice! Love the wreaths. Did you make them yourself?

Yes, I bought a bag of assorted mosses at the craft store. There was one that was sort of feathery, so I chopped it up to use as wreath greenery. I've used some of the others in the bag to make shrubs, etc.

Was it glued on a piece of chip board, or? Sorry for so many questions! I just gotta make one. ;)

No problem! I used my Cricut cutter to make tiny circles of thin, gift box weight cardboard. I wonder if an easy substitute would be those little reinforcements people put on paper that goes in three ring binders...make sense?

BurghGal...

So great to see patterns being used in creative ways!...the barn was one of the very early patterns I made...seeing it with a new design twist brings back pleasant memories...

My very best regards...

Too cute... Is Laurel ridge a real farm?
My uncle had a tree farm and would haul trees from upper Michigan to Chicago every year to sell. But he lived in a trailer for 4 weeks not a pretty red barn. Uncle has passed away but his youngest daughter and her husband are keeping the tradition alive. She just posted facebook photos of "tree bailing" so they can be stacked onto the big truck for the haul down to Illinois.

Hi Debbie, Laurel Ridge isn't a real farm, but there's a section of Pennsylvania called the Laurel Highlands (our state flower is the mountain laurel) and in my imagination, there's a little tree stand like this one somewhere in there! Tree farming is tough work, I'd imagine, and living in a trailer for 4 weeks is not for sissies! Nice to know the family tradition lives on with his daughter and hubby, hopefully in warmer living conditions than your uncle!

Happy Holidays!
