My Li'l PutzScraper...

Post by Clinton »

Well, here is a W.I.P. Going to build a base, possibly add some corner stack stones on building. Not too big, but having fun building so far. Will continue my "Dolly" fix soon! Starting out with something simple, then onto a bigger building possibly in the near future. Stay tuned gang!.. :)

Thanks for the comments/compliments Howard & Steve. Yes Howard, "Art Deco" all the way on this one! Trying to go for the early 30's look. I was a little intimidated to do the "pyramid" style copper roof, but it looks decent I guess. Do you think it would look nice with a greened-out, rusted, patina look on the top? I'm thinking of attempting it. As to the window sills, I used pieces of some BBQ sticks I got months ago and chopped 'em up for that. Not as good as match sticks though. Gotta go to the $1 store and get some for the next project. Steve: I just had to add that corrugated cardboard! I think it makes a good match with this building. From what I've seen on the vintage pieces, that's the norm. Yes, there will be a progress report gentlmen, along with pics as well. Good evening all. Until the next post-- same putz time, same putz channel!!....

What a great project! You changed the time on the clock. I agree with everyone else - the corrugated cardboard looks great as does the copper roof. I like the texture as well. Very nice.

I agree with Lucy this is a great project. The clock is a perfect addition and the copper roof I've never seen anything like it! Maybe when you post some more pictures you could give some dimensions?

Thanks Lucy & Lynn for your comments/compliments. The texture is Howard's "bird cage" gravel idea. Just like he is doing it on his Upton Abbey. The clock was a gleen off google search (yes Lucy, wrong time right? lol!) The copper roof was a mixture of 2 acrylic paints I bought from Walmart. Yes Lynn, I will definitely post dimensions, methods, window designs, etc. after project is completed. More pics coming hopefully today! Take care everyone... :)

Re: My Li'l PutzScraper... UPDATE---

Post by Clinton »

Well friends, here's an update to my little building here. Added some darker color on corrogated trim and window sills, finished up stoop where doors are, built (haphazardly!) my base with "art-deco" style border fences. Hopefully, I will knock this project out before the end of the day!... :)

Will,

The PutzScraper is magnificent. I love the darker trim. What a great little building. I just noticed the windows - are those Dolly windows? Nice detail.
