My Dolly Church build this early morning...

Post by Clinton »

Well, thanks to Lynn & Howard for their inspiration, I replicated an original dolly church I own. Of course, this one is colored, a wee bit bigger, and heavily German glass glittered (maybe too much! :P ) with snow. I designed my own windows and installed them as well. I had a bad touch of the insomnia this morning, so I went ahead and got to play. Enjoy!...

Cheers to all,

Will~

Great job Will!! I never knew this church had side windows. I love the icicles is this snow-tex? I have been debating about making another Dolly church one with the rosette window but now after seeing how nice your's is it's got me thinking about it again. Do you have any of the other Dolly churches?

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. This is the only dolly church I own Lynn, but I'm glad I have this style/design! Once it's refurbished, I will post it here. I don't use snow-tex, too darn expensive! I just make my own recipe. If anyone is interested in the Rosette window, or side windows, just let me know and I'll post them here for everyone's own personal use. I just loooooove these dollies! :)

I've mentioned this before--it's a vintage pdf catalog--and worth looking at for stained glass windows for putz

Good morning all! Here's another "early morning" build just finishing up. Still needs a tree or 2. This was patterned after a dolly church I saw online. The original was white and had no steeple, so I had to kinda "guesstimated" it and went for it! Also, I haven't had a chance to design these windows yet. I literally drew these out and filled them in with markers. I will be putting them into a digital format over the next few days...

Will,
The windows are beautiful and really show up well with light behind them. Did you make them out of regular paper or vellum? I just love how the light shines through. Your early morning work is great. Insomnia suits you very well.

Maria,
Where do you find this stuff? I love that catalog. I think the cover could make a beautiful diorama. And the windows throughout are inspiring as well.

The Dolly series are certainly inspired a huge amount of creativity. I will be making some after a few Easter houses get done.

Will - thanks for sharing. Your 2nd church is the one I want to build to match the Dolly set I am recreating. I for one would love to see a digital set of these put up on this site. I never thought of actually drawing these out and coloring them in - I may have to borrow your idea.
