classic "chalet"...little glitter house version...

Post by Howard »

Greetings to all…

After a “creative dry spell” in September…I hope to get back into the swing of things… :D

I actually started on this project a while ago…it is another remake of the “chalet style”…

My version is based on photos I’ve seen of vintage originals, the work of other makers and a couple of imported pieces…

The house is just a few basic parts glued together…a main body…a projection with a door…a square tube chimney with a little trim at the top…plus a roof and front step…

The only thing you may not notice is a piece of cardstock which is glued to the front face of the chimney and the front face of projection with the door…

the purpose of the piece is to hide the seam so the two pieces so it looks like one piece…

The base measures 4” x 6” x 5/8” thick…overall height is 4 3/4” including base…

Completed pictures later…i'm still trying to figure out how to get better closeups with an iphone :(...

My very best regards…Howard…

good afternoon...

here are the two windows mounted on the cardboard panel that fits inside the front wall...

click on this link to the technique of making your own window...

http://www.cardboardchristmas.com/html/ ... rames.html

i've already tested the piece for proper position and alignment...

it's a lot easier to install the one piece of cardboard than two small windows...

not sure which paper door i'll use...will have to decide after the glitter is applied...

my very best regards...howard...

greetings to all...

the "chalet" is finished...i used a mix of my usual glitter and mica flakes...but went heavier on the mica flakes this time...

one day i'll get up enough nerve to try mica flakes without any glitter...

of course i used snow-tex for the highlights on the snow...not much else to say about this project...

my very best regards...

howard...

ps...next project?...i'm always looking...time will tell...

Another great house Howard!! I have only used just the mica flakes on the snow portions of the house and base. I did this on the Coralene Beaded house and really liked the look. Hmm never thought about using the mica flakes for the whole house.... If anyone could do it, it would be you!!
