greetings...

here are pix of the completed "loggie"...since i don't copy exactly, the final finish details and colors vary from the vintage original mentioned in the opening post of this topic...the vintage original did have an interesting texture which i tried to duplicate...

after the primer dried, i mixed medium brown craft paint with bird cage gravel and spackling compound...(used to patch holes and cracks in walls)...i didn't measure...i just mixed and tested on a scrap of cardboard leftover from the loggie walls...the mixture makes uneven clumps and bumps...thing just happen...

the door and window mullions are more of the craftcutter variety...they were sprayed gold then immediately sprayed with yellow to brighten the final color...red acetate was used for the window material...

wish i had made more contrast between the stepping stones and the base finish...and used a lighter tan color on the chimney before i painted the bricks...

final dimensions...6" x 8" x 3/4" high base...5 1/2" tall including base...

my very best regards...howard...

Howard, that turned out awesome!! I love all the different textures!! The colors are great, what all did you put on the base to make it look like that? I agree, it would be cool to see the stepping stones a little more, cause it is such a cool detail. But..maybe the owners of the cabin forgot to mow before winter hit. :)

brian...here's a little more info on the base finish...

BASE…painted dark and medium green in uneven swirls…let dry…

STEPPING STONES…painted gray or gray mixed with brown…sprinkled on natural color craft sand while paint was wet…let dry…

coated base with white glue…sprinkled on a mixture of natural sawdust, light green and medium green dyed sawdust plus natural craft sand and green model railroad grass…did in sections…especially in and around each stone…let dry…

"HINT OF SNOW"…flat white wall paint…dry brushed…let dry…mica flakes and glitter added over white glue to selected areas…let dry…
