Cricut Question

Post by Barb »

Hi all,

Hope you are enjoying your Labor Day Weekend! I know that at least one of our group, Lucy, has a Cricut cutting machine and I think there are several others who have it or something similar. Would your cutting machine make beveled cuts on matboard, like you would see in a framed photograph or artwork? Looking to cut matboard with a professional looking beveled edge, in small sizes... like 2 1/2" by 3" overall. Anybody out there that has a gizmo to do this?

Thanks,
Barb

The blade on my explore only does a plunge cut straight down. The housing does not move side to side to allow a bevel. So I would say No the cricut does not do a bevel cut. Not sure about the Maker, maybe Lucy can comment on that. I see that Hobby Lobby's has 3 mat cutters, on is nearly as much as I paid for my Cricut on sale. But the cheapest is on sale.(via web site)https://www.hobbylobby.com/search/?text=mat+cutter&quickview=4203

I just remembered I was given a mat cutter, pulled it out just now. at first I thought it only did a straight but, but it has two slots. one for straight and one for beveled. I see there is one used for sale on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-X-ACTO ... Swtn9eubtT

No, the Maker only makes straight cuts as well. It is thick enough to cut mats though - just not on an angle.
