Sweet Brian! The precision of the appliqué looks perfect! How did you create the texture for the porch? Sand mixed in wth paint it appears,

Love the printies... Great Job.. I was wondering about the porch posts.. In the unfinished photo they
look like paper wrapped posts with a brass brad in the center? What are they made of?

H Deb. I can probably answer that question for you. It's paper rolled onto a wooden bbq stick, then cut. That's how I make mine too, but I slide the stick out though. Hope this helps!

Re: Brian's Second Printie July 2005 HOM
Thanks for the link on the fence post mending. That's kind of what I thought, paper rolling. Reminds me of paper bead making. I remember seeing a little tool to wind paper beads for sale back when Alieen had her own craft show on TV. Maybe I can find one on ebay.. Either way I am going to make some paper fence posts on my next Putz.
I am still curious about the brass/gold top of the fence post in the first photo. Or am I imagining that it is brass color, could it be the top of a wood dowel that I am seeing?

It's the wood dowel Deb. But, a brass Brad added to the top may look quite nice though!

Re: Brian's Second Printie July 2005 HOM
Thank you so much for the kind comments on my house!! I really love making the printies. My apologies for not responding to the questions right away, I was traveling with limited internet access and am behind on all things computer related. Just drove from Portland OR to Charlotte NC, my first time driving from coast to coast.
John the sand finish on the porch is aquarium sand that I glued on to the cardboard and then painted, just used a paint brush to paint on glue and then sprinkled the sand over.
Deb, I used Toms method that Howard posted to make the fence post. (thanks for putting up the link Howard!!). I used a glue stick on the paper to roll instead of craft glue on that but every thing else is the same. I used an x-acto to trim the top and bottom of the post. I did use a drop of craft glue on the ends on each post to seal the rolled paper though which may have given it a shiny look.
Cheers!!
