box set of Colmor houses
box set of Colmor houses
I met this lady on ebay when she expressed an interest in my Dolly bay window house. Since then I've been trying to help her get a collection together. She had already purchased this set of Colmor, thinking they were Dolly. On the box, the Santa in sleigh and reindeer are identical to the Dolly Toy box set, so really makes you wonder if they were affiliated or just copy cats?

Re: box set of Colmor houses
As far as I can tell, the box shows the non-dolly, non-colmor houses with the icicles printed on. If she has the box, maybe it has some labels so we can figure out who made those? Or did some warehouse just use these boxes for whatever they were sending out?
Re: box set of Colmor houses
Good eye Paul, I hadn't even noticed that those are the icicle houses that were posted on ebay and Papa Ted's page. So I wonder who made these houses. No trees of any kind. I'll contact Laura and see if there's any markings on the houses themselves. I believe it would say Colmor in a small banner on the back by the base? What a puzzle!
Re: box set of Colmor houses
The houses in this photo ARE Colmor's which is the acronym for Colman and Morris of New York. The box is an entirely different set yes Icicle printie houses is a good name for what originally came in the box. I have added a picture of my Colmor set that is pictured on Papa Ted's site. Notice the pictures on the box are of the same houses. However when I was about 5 dad came home with a set and it was in a long box with wood grain paper on it and it had a set of Colmor's. The one on Papa Ted's was sold through Sears as a Happi Time set. Note that 8 comprise a set and Colleens friend has a fortunate twice that amount. These in my opinion are a neater house. Some indeed did have cardboard trees and a dolly toy type box base.

Tom, thanks for posting these with the box so we could see them together. Answers some questions.
