Newest House

Post by PutzinVT »

Well I tried my hand at a loggie.

Had some problems. But it came out OK.

The corrugated is hard to work with.

There's things I'd do different next time.

Overall ok for a first attempt.

Very good especially for a first attempt. You handled the learning curve well. Really like the printed brick chimney. Did you know that it is RARE for an antique Japanese putz house to have the chimney extend ABOVE the roof line? Even though in real life it is necessary to get the chimneys to draft. The reason they made them this way is because it would have made the boxes they were to be put in too big.

I agree with Tom...very good job...you're building the one-of-a-kind putz that some collector will cherish when what we build today will be considered "vintage"...

Speaking of working with single-face corrugated...(for those who have not tried)...yes...it is different than flat cardboard...I failed at my early attempts to make loggies...at least two never made it as far as your first one...

Excellent photography...the subject just seems to "float" in black space...with nothing else competing for attention...

What the next project?...

My very best regards...Howard...

Steve, Sorry your photo disappeared for a bit. One of the LEAST complicated side effects of our migration. It's beautiful work, spot-on in detail and choice of finishes, by the way.
