Homemade Houses in Mantel Putz

The following photos are of putz houses that I have made and except for the little ones that came from a Dover book the designs were mine as well. In some instances they reflect houses I have seen but the best one which is the large brick Victorian house was entirely out of my head and was the first I made. The houses are arranged in order of first appearance or oldest first. This large Victorian manse is entirely out of my head. I used the materials I had at hand and it was painted with Tempera paints because that is what we had. The next house should be the house with the columns on it. It is based on an old house I saw in an area town once. It features windows that have colored pencil drawings on the inside and also outside in colored marking pen. The inside drawings show up when lit from inside and a Christmas tree can be seen when lit in the big window on the porch. Unfortunately the photo I have of it seems to be corrupted and will not be fixed so that it can be downloaded here. Next is the little brown house made of colored poster board and matt board. It is based on a type that was once often seen out here and you would be surprised how many farm kids could get in such a building!

I finally found a picture of number two and three in terms of oldest to newest. Next is a picture of a church that I made a few short years back. I gave Ted a version of it so I suppose someone bought it when his collection was being dispersed. I made three after this fashion but one was straight front (this one) and the other two were set on left and right oblique angles and Antoinette has one.
I saw this design in a heading design that Chris Althof made up from some of Antoinette's photos and it looked like a double tower church. For the most part (with the exception of one unusual giant Cathedral) the Japanese never made this common church layout in a usual size. The last house is a design taken from an abandoned rural brick school house I have seen in the area. The fence is my design for it. Have a happy CHRISTMAS! it's a small world...i was just about to email you...then this pix was posted that answered my question...

i was looking at ted's site the other day...reviewed your info on fence making...square post, cap and center section the dip and three holes per section...i always wondered what house it was use on...now i know...

hope you won't mind if i do something similar someday...i have always admired this fence design...

Awesome houses Tom, Thanks for sharing!! LOVE the victorian house!! My Grandma use to lived by Eureeka Springs Arkansas and we would visit once a year as a kid and it reminds of the types of houses you see there.
