Tiny Christmas figures

What kind of figures have been used with cardboard Christmas houses and villages, where do you get appropriate figures today, how do you make, prepair, repair or otherwise maintain figures?

I've mentioned this before but a recent perusal over at Oriental Trading inspired me to say more.

"Lampwork beads" offers lots of possibilities for little putz house figures--some to be modified--others are just perfect.
Here's some examples:
Don't know how long the links will last

Little penguins http://www.orientaltrading.com/penguin- ... t=lampwork
Little dog heads http://www.orientaltrading.com/puppy-la ... t=lampwork
Christmas cat http://www.orientaltrading.com/christma ... t=lampwork

In fact just go to oriental trading and type in "lampwork beads"--page after page of potential inspiration
