Vintage Look Dollar Tree Ornament

Post by Howard »

Greetings to all,

During a recent visit to my local Dollar Tree store, I came across an ornament that immediately captured my attention. I couldn’t resist since the price was only $1.50. The figure has a distinctly vintage appearance, which is particularly noticeable in the color of its coat and trim.

The ornament measures somewhere between 6 and 7 inches in height, depending on whether the cap is upright or pushed to one side. While this may be slightly large for a typical village setting, I am confident that I will find a suitable project for it in the future.

I intend to "age and antique" the figure's face, hands, and very white beard to enhance its vintage charm. My plan involves applying a flat brownish glaze wash to the face and hands plus using either a coffee or tea wash to tone down the brightness of the beard.

Stay creative,

Howard
