Playmobil dollhouse bash: the mega-putz

Please use this forum for photos of your putz villages - some of you don't make your own houses, but you still display a lot of artistry when you combine and arrange them. And the rest of us would love to see your work. Again, it works best if you resize your photos to 800px wide or less before you upload them - Paul

Playmobil dollhouse bash: the mega-putz

Post by OKPat »

Hi guys....

At a tag sale last summer, I spied a carton full of dollhouse parts and thought of my new granddaughter. It was impossible to tell if all the parts
were there, but the guy accepted my offer and I took it home. Well, between me and my husband (who's an engineer), it took us more than
five hours to assemble the house, and I realized it had way too many small parts for a one year old. (Duh!!!). So I set it aside, up out of reach, in the basement playroom.

As Christmas approached, it dawned on me that the house had mega-putz potential. I embellished the windows with Dresden trim cut-outs, blocked the windows with parchment paper and installed puck lights inside the rooms, along with a Christmas tree in the sun room/porch wing. Then it was just a question of garland, wreaths and trees outside. I stuck it in the playroom fireplace. Following instructions on you-tube, I built the bridge out of styromfoam, added some Lionel lights, Santa, an old sled; and a needle-felted reindeer I found on Etsy.

So, until she's a lot older, my granddaughter will just have to wait for it!

This is wonderful! Long live trash-bashing!

Parchment makes great windows by the way! I used it in my trashbashed "brownstone"

Can't wait to share this photo with my list!
