I'm rather pleased with the way this fence project turned out...we had a few warm, sunny days so i was able to prime and spray paint...hope to post a picture of the fence with my feather tree is a few days...until then these photos on the dark wood washstand will have to suffice...

my very best regards...

I just love this fence. I am definitely going to make this for next year. I know it will keep the cats out, right?

Update...2-5-2021...

A quick picture of the fence, tree and a few little fellows...probably going to place the tree on a slightly raised platform inside the fence on a cotton fleece or batting snow base...I also have a paper mache Santa that I know is at least 80 years old i'm going to display this holiday...more about the Santa in the chimney you see in the picture in a few weeks or so...

Howard, this belongs 100% on the site.

As you know, fences similar to this were used around thousands of Christmas trees in the early to mid 1900s. Frequently they marked the boundary of the Christmas village or the railroad under the tree. Some of the survivors look to be home-made but most look to have been hand-made in small factories. When they turn up for sale in good condition, the price can be pretty high.

Here's an image of a fancy one from the Papa Ted's archive collection.

Here's a much older stereopticon image.
