Re: clock tower...
Howard, Wonderful interpretation of the original!!!!! The loofa trees really finish it off.
Re: clock tower...
i learned to make "luffah trees" from the detailed instructions and photo that tom hull posted on ted's web site...they're actually pretty easy to make...take a look and give it a try!...here's the link...
http://www.cardboardchristmas.com/papateds/fixtree.html
if anyone is interested i can provide a link to the source i use...just let me know...
i believe there is a minimum purchase of somewhere around ten sponges...they are about 10 to 12-inches long...

Re: clock tower...
Boy, Howard, you are really a treasure! Thanks for the info for luffas--I immediately emailed Chris and am looking forward to hearing back from him. Even following Tom Hull's instructions and your fine supplemental information, my luffa trees come out looking nothing like they should. But I'm going to keep on trying. If I could get all the way 'cross country easily I would drop in and peer over your shoulder as you make some. The dying isn't a problem--the shaping is.
Re: clock tower...
nan...
regarding "shaping" luffah trees...i trim with ordinary scissors and pinking shears...and cut a little bit at a time...
remember...no two trees in nature are alike...each one is a natural, growing thing...all kinds of shapes and sizes...nothing is perfect...
