Halloween House Display

Post by Lucy »

Ok, here it is the display where I put almost all my little halloween houses out. There are 3-4 that still need bases. I am working on that right now. The second photo shows 2 houses I don't think I've posted before - the "Green House" (a hacienda type house that needs a better name) and the Rusted Tin Roof House (cut it the same time as Jack's house just a different roof). I love they are spooky and eerie, but in a fun and innocent way. So much of Halloween these days is all about gore and evil. These wonderful houses remind me of a simpler time; they are wonderful.

I deliberately avoided the gore partly because I thought people would buy them for their kids. One of my co-workers bought what I call the Halloween candy house (right front corner) because she thought her 3-year-old would like it. She says he puts it where he can look at it wherever he is sitting. He even begged to take it to daycare, but his mom wouldn't let him. She did take it that afternoon when she picked him up and his teacher said that he talked about a "house" all day. That makes me very happy. That's what I wanted.

People forget that spooky and scary doesn't always mean what is graphically portrayed in front of you, what you imagine that is not seen is even spookier.

Thank you for your kind comments.
