When I first started thinking about making these little houses, I figured I would put them on a ribbon roll circular base. It seemed easy to me. So the very first houses I made were on some saved ribbon rolls, but then I ran out and had to make my own circular bases. Here are a few examples.
The first photo shows 3 of my very earliest houses (which means April or May, I think). The first one on the left is Howard's Twin Peaks pattern. The second house is a house I made for kids that is not too scary and the 3rd is the Spider house. Those 2 houses were obviously inspired by Howard's Twin Peaks pattern.
The second photo shows some of the later houses with circular bases - Candy Corn 1 on the left, the Bat Wing House in the middle and Candy Corn 3 on the right.
The 3rd photo shows close-up Candy Corn 3 on it's base. The nice thing about that base is that I made it so the top could come off like on Black Hat Inn so a small LED light can be inserted there. The other 2 Candy Corn houses and the Bat Wing house have holes in the backs.
Some of my bases are a little warped (as in warped record in the sun), but not too bad. It's pretty involved making these bases because I cut out 8 5" circles per base and attach them to the cardboard cylinder in the center. If I make it so the top can come off, I have to be sure and leave enough space so that it really can come off (it didn't work in 3 of the 5 bases that I made so I just glued the top down).
Anyway, it's just another look at the progress of my little Halloween houses. Lucy
