This house I made a month or so ago. I am including some diagrams so you can see how I made it. I do not have the precision and skill that someone like Howard has so my sketches and patterns are kind of rough.
I really like the way the house turned out. It is painted and antiqued, with a little glitter. The side walls have windows with silhouettes as well. I haven't taken pictures of those yet.
I am still working on the Black Hat Inn - lots of little decorating details which are not really my forte. I like to think of myself as a builder.
Persistently with glue and glitter in Upstate SC.

...and you will never see them...
please note...keep posting you work!...by the way...REALLY LIKE the random roof shingles!...

Re: Silhouette House
Howard,
Thank you once again for your encouraging comments. I posted my rough sketch and draft largely because Paul encouraged me to do so in a previous post. He says it helps other people in their construction of the little houses. And if some other novice (like me) sees some of the steps in drafting their own house, maybe it will help them create their own pattern.
I made the shingles by scoring the cardboard so it would look cedar shakes, then cutting them out with some craft scissors with a jagged edge, then cutting out sections to look like some of the shakes had broken or were missing. Then I painted and distressed and glittered it. I didn't mean to use 2 different blue colors that don't really go together very well, but it's a halloween house, it's basically ok.
Thank you again. Lucy

Re: Silhouette House
Lucy,
I love the shingles. I've been posting hobby articles since about 1999, and most of them include dumb stuff I tried that didn't work, and dumb stuff I tried that worked. If my readers come away thinking "If that idiot can do it, I'm sure I can," that's exactly the effect I'm going for.
Never discount the ability of a less-than "professional" process to encourage other folks to get started and to share their own stories and results!
Thanks again,
Paul
