Making a "flat Santa, sleigh and deer"...

What kind of figures have been used with cardboard Christmas houses and villages, where do you get appropriate figures today, how do you make, prepair, repair or otherwise maintain figures?

Making a "flat Santa, sleigh and deer"...

Post by Howard »

Good afternoon to all…

This project ought to keep me busy for a while…lots of cutting, painting and detailing…

The inspiration for the overall design came from multiple sources including images and suggestions sent to me by forum members, Google searches and a picture in my mind as to how to make the deer without having to cut out all the individual legs…

Not shown in the patterns below are the reigns and antlers…these will be made from wire…more about them later…

My very best regards…Howard…

greetings to all...(from a warm 80+ degree day here in north florida)...

making lots of progress on a project that i thought would take much longer...i'll let the pictures tell the story...except for this...

i know that deer have more antlers than three...but from a "viewing distance"...when on display...it really doesn't matter...

speaking of antlers...they're made from soft iron wire...craft store floral wire could probably be used...

the rein is also made from the same wire...a two-part epoxy was used to attach the antlers and reign...

primer, paint and finishing details are next...

my very best regards...howard...

good morning to all...

...two coats of gray spray primer...and two coats of premium white paint...now the fun part...detail painting and patiently waiting for each part to dry...

...regarding painting...i always try to paint the things that are the farthest away first...but i usually have to go back and touch up a few places...

my very best regards...howard...

Good afternoon to all…

I really can’t say it any better than this…

“The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the luster of mid-day to objects below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer“…

My very best regards…

Howard…
