new "spook hill" cottage project...

Post by Howard »

greetings to all…

the much cooler morning temperature of 66-degrees was just the inspiration needed to start making a “crooked little house” to add to my “spook hill“ collection of houses…

the black lines behind the cardboard cutouts form 1-inch squares…so you should be able to make your own pattern…nothing has to be perfectly aligned or square…slight imperfections add to the charm of halloween houses…

note that the roof has a folded detail at the ridge…see the photos below…pinking shears were used cut the peak and roof edges…

i’ll add crooked steps, a chimney, door and window frames, shutters, fence, landscape and a figurine…

more pictures later…

my very best regards…

howard…

greetings to all...

starting to look more and more like halloween...nothing glued in place yet...i'm still in the composing stage...

base measures about 4 1/2" x 5" x about 5/8" thick...

fence is from Michael's...i cut about 1/2" off of each picket...it was just too tall for this small house...

figurine is from the Dollar Tree...came in a pack of 3...it will be repainted and glazed before it is installed...

house steps are two pieces of scrap wood...

more pictures later next week...

my very best regards...howard...

greetings to all...

a little more progress...

made the door and windows from orange velum and used black scrap booking paper for the mullions...the black frames for the outside of the house are also scrap booking paper...

the crooked chimney is from the top hook part of a small plastic coat hanger...the chimney cap is a small rolled cone of card stock...i used two part epoxy to glue the chimney to the inside back wall and secure the chimney cap...

my very best regards...

howard...
