Greetings to all…
This month’s project is my version of a vintage house that was shown in the November 2007 issue of Country Sampler magazine on page 12…the picture is copyrighted so I can’t post it…(but I guess it’s OK to identify the source)…my interpretation is probably a little smaller…but I did try to capture the proportions, details, stucco finish and colors…
A few notes…it sits on a 4 ½” x 6 ½” x ¾’ thick base…fence is ¾” high…posts are 1” high…finish is ordinary birdcage gravel applied over white glue then primed and painted…a few selected areas are blushed with extra fine clear glitter…the two windows could have been cut a little larger…the door and window mullions are hand-cut cardstock with a couple of coats of metallic gold paint…the front porch is a triple-thick piece of cardboard…
Also note…there is a small, triangular piece of cardboard that is not shown on the pattern that you’ll have to cut to fit…see the red arrow on the work-in-progress photo…it fills in the gap between the front bump out room and the part of the house with the other window…
Speaking of cut-to-fit…there will be some cutting and fitting of the two roofs to accommodate the chimney…so I’d make the pieces oversize to start with…then trim as needed…
The patterns are in the PDFs below the work-in-progress photo…I’ll post a picture of the completed house later this month…stay tuned…
Howard…

Re: 2023 PROJECT NUMBER 4…”STUCCO FINISH COUNTRY HOUSE”…
I really like this charming little house!!
The complimentary colors work so well. And I love the birdcage gravel texture, especially the choice to use it throughout the model. It ties everything together perfectly.
Did you mix he gravel with glue and apply it or did you mix the gravel directly with the paint?
Also, what did you use for the “snow” on the roofs and chimney?

Neal...
"Stucco" bird cage gravel finish...I paint on white glue then sprinkle on the bird cage gravel...I do one wall, part or section at a time...after drying, I go back and touch up any areas I missed...note...bird cage gravel can be sifted if you want a finer textured surface...any sand will work like builder's sand, child's sandbox sand or craft store sand...after glue and sand has dried, I prime and paint...when dry, blushes of white glue are sprinkled with extra fine clear glitter...but I don't try to cover all the stucco...
"Snow" on the roofs and chimney...I paint the area with thick white craft paint...when dry, I paint on white glue and sprinkle on extra fine clear glitter...sometimes I build up the snow area with an additional coat of white glue and extra fine clear glitter...
Hope this helps...
My very best regards...

Howard, I love this house! I wanna build it now. It looks so authentic like the vintage ones!
