2017 Putz Village: Cars & Leftovers

Please use this forum for photos of your putz villages - some of you don't make your own houses, but you still display a lot of artistry when you combine and arrange them. And the rest of us would love to see your work. Again, it works best if you resize your photos to 800px wide or less before you upload them - Paul

Maria C included a repeat link to Pat's 2017 putz in her blog today, so I got to revisit Pat's putz (FAB-U-LUCIOUS!).
The lakkie that Barb fixed for Pat has a twin in the BairClan set. While recovering from knee surgery, I rehabbed both my knee and the BairClan set. For my version of that lakkie, the windows were just strips of white paper with red cello, in bad shape. So I had to make my "die cut" windows to replace them, and I didn't realize until today that I could have asked Pat or Barb what the windows were in Pat's lakkie.

The light inside the house and the photo resolution makes it difficult to discern what Pat's windows are made out of just from the photograph.

There was one BairClan house, and two other lakkies that I already owned, that had red silk translucent fabric with teensy-weensy super thin woven rice straw mullions as the window materials. Now I am curious if Pat's lakkie had those windows, too. I have never encountered them except in the three lakkies that are in my collection.

It was probably only done on the lakkies, and probably for only one year. The materials are way too delicate, and too tedious to install.
Anyone with any additional info, please let me know, and thanks! Loved seeing Pat's putz again!

Hi Kathy...

Barb alerted me to your question about that distressed lakkie. If you go to PutzinVT's post on 2-5-17
called "Interesting House" you will see good photos, before and after, of the window treatment, plus
a good shot of another super lakkie in my collection that has a very similar window treatment. It seems
to have been some kind of woven (broom straw?) material backed by either thin silk or rice paper.

Best,

OK Pat

HI Kathi,

So good to hear from you! Here is a link to the topic OK Pat referenced about, it can be kind of fiddly to find. This has great pix of the window treatments before and after:

Would love to chat with you, can you contact Pete O or Linda S for my new email address? I've misplaced yours.
