A very strange hacienda windmill house I acquired...

If you have an unusual piece that you have questions about, this is the place to post them. Photos are VERY welcome, though it helps if you reduce them to 800 wide before you upload them. If you can't reduce them yourself, post them anyway and I'll try to reduce them when I have time.

A very strange hacienda windmill house I acquired...

Post by Clinton »

I was going through all of my putz house photographs on my laptop last night, and spied this picture I took of a hacienda windmill I acquired way back in 2013 in a bunch lot I purchased from an antique dealer on Ebay. I was going to post it here when I first joined back in 2015, but I totally forgot. I thought back then it was nothing, but now since I've been in the "collector mode" for several years now, I feel that I might have something rare here. Below is the photograph I took of this oddity. I have never seen another one like it since. :|

clinton...

there's just something about hacienda windmill houses...i can see why you were drawn to it!...it's a real gem!...thanks for sharing with the forum...i wonder if forum member, tom hull, has a similar one in his extensive hacienda house collection?...i guess it's lost to history just how many variations there could have been...

Thanks Howard for your post. Yes! I bought a box of "TLC houses" ( I think I got the whole box of around 15 houses for around $30! ;) ) It was a "buy it now" deal and I talked him down from $50 I think if my memory serves me. There it was-- a really beat up little windmill house. Looks as if someone tried to reglue it to the base with good ol' Elmers glue. I wished I could find a picture of one with it all intact, but I feel that this was one of those "one off custom" experiments. The oddballs are always the best, aren't they?
