Lynn and Howard:
So do you thin down your PVA glue (I use Aleene's Original Tacky Glue) when I do glitter.
Since it looks like brush marks from full strength glue would be bad.
I would think a thinner glue would be good or a different type.

Steve...
I used Elmer’s Glue-All to apply my sand. You’re right...Aleene’s is way too thick...

Re: Building "Ten Cent City"...recreating 1950's little hous
I used Elmer's glue as well. I didn't get the glue on nice and even the first time and it made a difference the sand look lumpy. After that I was careful to get it on smooth but if there were any raised areas I simple used a dry brush and evened it out. I never used sand before so there was a bit of a learning curve for me.
Re: Building "Ten Cent City"...recreating 1950's little hous
Here’s my version of the 10 cent house. I wasn’t aware they mostly have white roofs so mine is rather colorful in comparison. I may just continue in that realm and go for a very colorful grouping. I’m waiting on my tree stems also so I substituted what I had and can change that later. I also just used a door and vintage glass glitter that I had on hand.

Laurie your house looks great, I love the color combination.
Are you planning to hang yours on the Christmas tree? I forgot to add some gold thread. I'll have to figure that out.

Re: Building "Ten Cent City"...recreating 1950's little hous
Well I jumped into making the 10 cent city houses.
I got January and February done.
Can't wait for March to come out.
Did find out a few things. Like sand is much more finicky to apply than glitter.
I did make a sign for my new housing development.
