A spun cotton Mini Santa. And a tutorial

What kind of figures have been used with cardboard Christmas houses and villages, where do you get appropriate figures today, how do you make, prepair, repair or otherwise maintain figures?

A spun cotton Mini Santa. And a tutorial

Post by PutzinVT »

Last summer I started making some spun cotton pinecone elves.
I really liked making them alot.

I even had some fun finding the supplies to make them look vintage.
Only problem is they really are not scaled right for a putz house.

Earlier this year I swapped some putz supplies with Lynn, from the forums.
In the box was a small spun cotton santa.
He's about 1 3/4" tall. A good size for a putz house.

I tried my hand at making a tutorial.
I have posted a sharable link to a PDF file on my google drive.

i will hold a bit before posting file to the forums. I'd like to iron out any issues or confusion
before the final version.

Steve,
I love this little Santa. It's excellent. The directions look very nice and doable.

I wonder if you could use felt for the hat. Is there a reason you used red velvet paper? Maybe because it is thinner?

Thank you so much for sharing this. It's wonderful.

I used the velvet paper as it was what the vintage one used.
Plus it glues up much nicer than felt would.

You could by all means use felt, but I wanted the more vintage look.

Well, that makes sense and I bet it would work better, too.

Well I used up all of my original supply of spun cotton.
I got 12 out my initial order.

Got plenty once christmas roll around again.
