If you would like to let the rest of us know a bit about you, especially if you have any special skills or knowledge that the rest of the group might be able to draw on, that would be good. Also, if you have a blog or other web resource that's related to what we do here. . .

Greetings

Post by Robin S »

Hello All!

My name is Robin and I am new to the glorious world of Putz houses and the cardboard world. It all started, well, I'm not sure how it happened or in what order. But last winter when getting the Christmas stuff out and for the first time ever, going overboard, I decided I wanted a train for the base of the Christmas tree. I think I then saw the magical Christmas villages that people have and discovered that some were homemade. Right then I decided I needed a village and a train and I started combing through the net for all I could find about making my own house. I printed off templates from bigindoortrains.com and pestered my family about saving their cereal boxes. I managed to get two houses completed and my train arrived in time to put under the tree.

Of course I can't stop there! As a Harry Potter fan I decided that for Christmas 2018 I need the Hogwarts Express from Lionel and to craft the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizarding. So I have been working on Hogwarts and have been perusing the entries here at the Cardboard Christmas Forums for help/ideas. I decided that I should join and tap in to the wealth of knowledge and crafting experience that it's members have in order to help me achieve my goal. Plus I can only talk cardboard for so long with my family before their eyes glaze over.

I love to look at all the houses people have made and it's very inspiring and I continue to learn every time I see a photo. I think my favorite photos are the blueprints. Those really help me to learn how to map out my buildings and the magic behind those beautiful homes that I see posted on the net.

Happy to be part of the forum!!

Robin

Robin,

Welcome aboard.

You'll meet some very helpful people here.

You might find Lucy's Steampunk houses helpful when trying to design houses to go with your Harry Potter train.

Have a great spring!

Robin,
When Howard says he's built castles, he means it. His castles are some of the most wonderful creations. His latest castle/train landscape project is astounding - https://www.cardboardchristmas.com/foru ... e&start=50. You have to check that one out, especially if you are making some projects based on the Harry Potter books.

And like everyone else - welcome to Cardboard Christmas where you will have hours of fun.

Hi Robin ~

I'm a newbie also and a HP fan, so I'm excited to see your progress. Be careful though, it will be the town of Hogsmead next.
