Hi everyone!
I am a new registered user, that has been lurking in your midst for probably 3 or 4 years.
I live in beautiful Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
I am ga-ga crazy for anything vintage Christmas, but especially putz houses.
I have a modest collection of putz houses, mostly small ones.
I didn't even realize there were large houses until I found your website.
My husband and I have 2 teenage boys, and 2 golden retriever puppies.
Last year my older puppy decided to taste several of my houses, and unfortunately destroyed 3. I was heartbroken!!
This year I will be displaying my collection behind glass in my china hutch. I cannot trust either one of them! Scoundrels!

I have had quite a hard time finding putz houses in Idaho. I think it is probably because the older generations of Idaho-ans, had to be so practical.
Not a lot of extra funds for extravagant decorations, and honestly not a lot of places to purchase them.
I have enjoyed the hunt however, and keep my eyes open for those glittery treasures!

I have a secret also...
I have used your .svg files for windows on a laser engraver.
I work at a trophy/engraving shop, and we use our laser engraver primarily for engraving steel and plastic plates.
BUT you can also cut with the laser... I haven't quite dialed in the precise specifications to cut out window or doors without burning or melting.... but I'm working on it.

Something to think about if you have a local engraver with a laser... you could take the .svg file to them on a thumb drive and have them cut out your paper or chip board.

So nice to be a part of your group!!
Thanks for letting me be a part!
Kathy

Nice to have you KathyS. I live in a small town and have never seen any houses at antique shops, etc., but ebay can be a wonderful source, although mighty pricey at times.

Welcome Kathy!! I can empathize with you and understand the heartbreak of a puppy gnawing and destroying cardboard houses. I finally got mine to leave the houses in the village alone. Once in awhile though I would find a tree from the village in the dog beds nicely chewed and in little pieces. The joys of having our dear pets!!!

Regarding using etching machines, etc. to cut out putz house frames, if you guys all chip in and buy me one of these, I promise to write articles about it. :-)
