I am moving along well with my recovery from getting a new knee. Today I thought I would set up the Cricut Explore Air 2 and do a simple project. It was a lot of fun but I am anxious to try my hand with a putz house pattern. BurghGal if you have any simple putx .svg files I would love to get one from you to try out. Just like my knee, I have to keep telling myself, tiny steps, tiny steps.

Yes, I have visited Lucy's site and actually downloaded the Irish cottage and cut it out. I still need to teach myself about how to do score lines and resizing.

I cut it out of just plain copy paper to see how it would do. I think I will try again with some heavy card stock and see how that goes. I will need to get a different blade before I can cut out lightweight chipboard.

Hey, Lee. My Cricut Explore Air doesn't score very deeply so I always have to go over it after I score it with the machine. But the real trick with scoring is to make sure you mark the lines to score, not cut, then ATTACH them to the rest of pattern. I always forgot that at first.

Hmmm. Tried to post the SVGs, but the forum gave me a message that it does not allow that file format. Can't share directly from the Cricut site either, because they do not allow for sharing of personal files.

Yes, I change the red lines (I try to make all my score lines red) from cut to score. Then attached. Also the score lines are dashed lines on the PDF pattern. Yes,I let the Cricut do the scoring, but the Cricut Explore AIr 2 doesn’t do a great job scoring. So I go over it with the back of my craft knife and a ruler.

I don’t know what print and cut is. I’m still new to using my Cricut. I just upload the design and cut it.

Lee, When I first bought my Generation one Cricut Explore I bought the Winter Woodland cartridge (digital within Design space only) There are six houses, a clock tower and some trees (plus other one dimensional projects) in this cartridge that were designed for cardstock, but I cut them from cereal boxes. Have not had a chance to make them up, but the parts are in plastic bags waiting for glue, paint and glitter. I used the custom cutting setting, chipboard .55. If you find the Explore does not cut through, then in the custom selection choose browse all materials and at the very there is some green text that says Material settings, in here you can change the number of blade passes. you can add an extra pass of the blade for 3 passes total.
