Just finished this house - the Irish Stone Cottage. It isn't really decorated for the fall season yet, partly because I can't find my pumpkins. I don't know where I have hidden them. My decor plan for this house is to add some fallen leaves and pumpkins and probably paint the door red because the house is kind of drab. It's especially drab when you compare it to the glittery beauties elsewhere on the forum. I am writing a tutorial on making a stone texture for the little houses. I will put the information and a link on the tips and tutorial page when I get it done. In the meantime, here a few photos from the Irish Stone Cottage. And you can always use Paul's graphics for stone texture. He's got some great pages of textures and brick work. https://www.bigindoortrains.com/indoor_resources/brick_n_stone/brick_n_stone.htm. And here is a link to an incredible house Howard made using that stone graphic just to demonstrate how great it looks on a little house. https://www.cardboardchristmas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=638&p=4022&hilit=Stone+texture#p4022 Lucy https://paperglitterglue.com/irish-stone-cottage-paper-house/

Lucy I LOVE this house. The stone is fabulous and I don't find it drab at all. The colors are perfect, I love the window frames and the cute little door. I'm ready to move in! Can't wait to check out how you did the stone work. Great job!! |

Lucy, I have to agree with Barb. This is STOP THE PRESSES fabulous! I've tried doing "random" stone work and it's not as easy as you'd think. The colors and spacing you've achieved are really, really good! An adorable house! Pat |

The roof is awesome too. Lots of gluing time to make that one. |

Pat, I feel a little guilty to tell you that I used a purchased stencil for the stones. I did paint them individually though, but I cheated and used a stencil with purchased texture paste as well. Just a little honest disclosure. Working on the tutorial now. Lucy |

Lucky, nonsense you shouldn't feel the least bit guilty. We all use tools of all sorts. You are expanding our horizons and teaching us all new things!! This is an incredible cottage it truly shows off your talent. I started an Irish village for my nephew and this would fit in beautifully. |

Howard, Your stone houses, castles and train stations have been an inspiration forever. I will make a castle one day. I don't know if I am going to stencil stones all over the surface though. Maybe the first one I'll just paint with sanded paint just to get the structure down. Thank you for relieving me of my guilt. I just didn't want Pat to think that I randomly painted those stones without a template. Lucy |
