When two members alerted me early in the morning that the forum was down, I checked and all of my forums were down, including the forums for BigIndoorTrains.com, FamilyGardenTrains.com, FamilyChristmasOnline.com, and so on.

I spent three hours trying to get through to tech support. After about two hours I finally got to talk to a person. I told him all of my MySQL databases were down. He talked to me for about fifteen minutes, asking me things like "what did you do to cause this?" "Nothing. I was in bed when it happened."

Then he put me on hold to the database group. I waited about another half hour, then got ahold of a guy who tried all of my forums that use MySQL and said, "Yes, they're all down. What did you do to cause this anyway?" "Nothing. I was in bed when it happened."

So some four hours into the process, the second guy I talked to said. "Hey, it turns out it wasn't your fault. I just heard from another group that ALL of the MySQL databases on that server are down."

I said, "You just found out? I told you over an hour ago, and it would have been four hours ago if I could have gotten through to a person."

Sheesh.

At any rate, we seem to be back. Thanks for your patience, all,

Paul

Thanks. This sort of thing seems to be happening more and more. I paid to get a copy of my birth certificate last July and still can't get it...the pandemic is constantly blamed for everything from delays to three hour phone calls........anyway, appreciate that they are back online.

Our little, mostly agricultural county in Ohio is keeping up better than a lot of other places with a lot more money and infrastructure. I think for a lot of institutions, the pandemic is just an excuse for not bothering to do your job. :-(

I totally agree with the last sentence...it easier and more fun to stay home, sluff off and still get paid...
