This is one of my favorites and I got it during my early days of collecting and have not seen another. Notice the early tubular bottle brush type tree which places it at an early period. The top of the cantina "doghouse" and the Marquee are both done in orange lacquie. The base has a projection and the posts are all made of folded cardboard with a cap on them. I love the punched holes in the fence. This building started my love affair with different type fences. The material scattered over the gray base is NOT coconut or anything I recognize - perhaps dried up and shredded seaweed? The "snow" on the base is heavy and drooling and is surely not paint but neither do I believe it is plaster as that would have flaked off years ago. Perhaps a combination of both. One of the most interesting features is the top part of the building can be turned upside down and put in the house. In fact when this came in the mail I was totally surprised to find the top still inside. The person that put it up for sale apparently never new because they just took a picture of the lower half as the top was inside.

That is a cool Hotel! I haven't seen a Lacquie marquee on that style of house before. I love those trees, I hope I find a house with one someday. I have a house with a base that looks similar, that isn't coconut or sand. It is blue, and a fairly rough texture, but I believe the house is coconut though, I'll have to try and find it. Thanks for sharing, very jealous!!!
