Update...8-10-2021...

I knew I'd get around to it sooner or later...adding animal "flatties"...thanks to Maria for recently posting the line drawings of a donkey and a cow...that was the inspiration I needed to get started...first is the donkey...it's a work in progress right now...primer, paint and high gloss clear coats later this week...

The pattern for the donkey is in the PDF below the picture...

I didn't include a photo of these parts...base, match stick braces on each side of the donkey and paper clip wire support on the back side of the donkey cutout since these have been covered in detail in previous "flattie" projects...

A cow and a camel are next...stay tuned...

Update...8-11-2021...

Here is the cow "flattie" in raw cardboard...and ready for the finishing...I'll clean up any little cardboard hairs and smooth out any uneven body outlines after priming...the pattern is in the PDF below the picture...

Update...8/12/2021...

The camel "flattie" is still in the raw cardboard stage...there are a few edges I need to refine and contour...the reins shown on the pattern will be pieces of wire from the inside of ordinary twist ties...it's soft, easy to work and readily available...

Open the PDF below the picture for the pattern sheet...

I'll post pictures of the completed donkey, cow (which may be a wee bit to large) and camel when all the painting and detailing is completed...stay tuned...

Update...8/13/2021...

Since my plans for a short trip have been rudely interrupted by the virus spike here in Florida (again! )...I decided to add two date palm trees to the nativity project...

You've probably seen them in pictures of vintage zinnfiguren nativity sets...so here is my version...I'll let the pictures and the PDF with the pattern tell the story except to say this...the palm fronds, trunks and fence parts don't have to be exactly like the pattern...I saw a lot of images you could uses as patterns...just search for "date palm trees coloring pages"...

Going to spend the next few days painting and detailing of all the pieces I've recently added...the donkey, cow, camel and date palm trees...pictures later...stay tuned...

update...8/17/2021...

The donkey "flattie" is completed...it's a small piece...but painting took a while to get the right balance of grays...painted eye with the tip of a toothpick...four coats of clear gloss polyacrylic and it almost looks like it's metallic...

The cow "flattie" is in the paint shop...stay tuned...

Good morning Howard.

I love the donkey. and the green on the base looks like old style baked on enamel!

Thanks, Lee, I tried to make them look just how you described...metal with baked enamel paint...not the craft paint, gloss acrylic clear finish, cardboard, matchsticks, paperclips and/or wire i use... :)
