So I needed some homemade gifts for Christmas this year. The gift giving theme was give something that was homemade and not store bought.

So I scaled down some of Howard's simpler house designs and turned them in to candy jars.

They look pretty cute on top of the Bell canning jar.

I figure once the candy is gone the house (jar lid) can be removed from the jar and used like a normal Putz house.

My only concern is that unless your careful, unscrewing the lid tends to beat up on the glitter.

Se below, both are waiting to be filled w/ candy.

Steve

Hi PutzinVT,

These are really very sweet!! I really love the colors you choose for the yellow house.
I am sure they will be careful taking off the cover so there should be a minimum loss of glitter. I make putz houses for Christmas gifts, hoping as years pass they will have their own little village.

Merry Christmas!
Lynn

good morning...

this is something i have go to try!...such a simple idea...but look at the results!...i also feel the people who receive the containers will be very careful with the glitter...

let's see -- 50 years from now -- on what ever ebay becomes -- i can see the listing for "vintage 2011 candy jar"
(be sure and put your name, date and location on the underside of the lids)...

my very best regards...

howard...

Thanks for the positive comments everybody.

I'm still feeling my way with making houses.

Just getting our First real snow up here in Vermont this season.
Been abnormally warm.

Glad to see the snow. At least now we'll have a white Christmas.

Merry Christmas All,

Steve
