Base and Fence look Great!! How did you do your raffia? It looks like you didn't stitch it...wondering how you keep it all in place. Really looks cool!!

regarding fence...

i want to live a few years longer so can't use betty ann's sewing machine to stitch the raffia...

i will post a few pix of my method in a day or so...the pictures will show how it's done much better than i can describe...

my very best regards...howard...

good morning...

here's how i make raffia fence...i know there are other ways...i can explain it but the picture and drawing spell it out much better...

note...the reason i used a strip of plastic is that the white glue will not stick to it...

my very best regards...howard...

Awesome! Thanks for sharing, this great!! I really like the plastic and glue idea. Im going to try that next time for sure. It saves a whole step of having to go back and trim the cardboard inside.

regarding fence...i'm working on a "raffia fence weaving contraption"...sorta like a "loop-a-loom"...details drawings and photos later...

also...i was in hobby lobby yesterday...saw some nice "green raffia"...

kinda off the raffia fence topic...but at michael's i saw small, natural color sisal trees and wreaths...the trees look really neat...nice contrast with the right putz...the tree bases were stained a medium blown...

good afternoon…

the house is finished...it's not an exact copy of the vintage original...but has the basic look...

guess you can tell that i like to use lots of colors…that’s a lesson i learned from studying the art of thomas knikade, norman rockwell and other famous artist…

hadn’t done a raffia fence recently either…i’m still working on the raffia fence making jig mentioned earlier in this topic…there will probably be a bark fence in a future project…once i find the right source…

i may change the tree shape and height…this one seems too large…

the textured finish is sifted sawdust colored with diluted craft paint…i've used it on the bases of projects...but not on and entire house until now…

the very bright white on the roof tops and fence is snow-tex...

my very best regards…howard

another masterpiece. The fence is interesting.

I like the addition of one of your santas.

Howard, this is another great-looking little house. I love the texture. And you strayed from your Forida pastels. :-)
