2025 Project No. 6 — Santa and Grandfather Clock

Post by Howard »

Greetings to all…

I guess this piece could be best be described by terms I don’t think I’ve heard in years…that would be “bric-a-brac” or “whatnot”…my interpretation was inspired by various internet images…the Santa I’m using is a vintage celluloid ornament…depending on the height of your Santa, the height of the clock may have to be made taller…I’ll post a picture of the finished project later…stay tuned…

Howard…

Crazy cool, Howard. Santa looks like he's in a hurry, lol.

Greetings to all...

Another project is finished...but I'm still looking for that one little accent piece to go on the base...the original had a felt bag...but it's too much like the color of the clock...I'm pretty sure the perfect item will reveal itself when least expected...

UPDATE...5-3-2025...

I added the small items in front of the clock and Santa...presents are block of balsa wood painted with craft paint and two coats of clear polyacrylic...ribbons are drawn with metallic gold permanent marker...the bows are cut from gold paper...

The tiny mouse was carved from the tip of a small wood paintbrush handle...the paper clip painting handle and wire tail are in holes drilled into the mouse body and held in place with superglue...I painted the eyes and nose with dabs of paint on the tip of an ordinary straight pin...

My very best regards...

Howard...

Thanks so much for the detailed description, Howard. Painting with a straight pin? You've taken "miniaturization" to a whole new level. I love everything about this project.
