Post subject:  2022 PROJECT NO. 21 -- "LOGGIE PRINTIE"

Greetings to all...

This project was inspired by old, lithographed tinplate toy log cabins I saw on the internet…but instead of graphics for shingles, the roof is covered with cotton batting with just a little glitter…

Here’s a picture of the completed "loggie" and the graphics for the walls and chimney…patterns for the cardboard body and chimney will be posted immediately below in the next reply...

I suggest you size as required and print out the graphics before using the pattern for the body and chimney to cut out and assemble…I discovered the hard way that the output of printers varies so you may have to adjust the dimensions of the loggie walls to fit the graphics…the goal is to get the walls to fold at the corners, so the log pattern alternates more or less like a real log cabin…

Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving...

Howard...

This is really great, Howard. I can't wait to see your progress. How did you recreate the lithographs? I've always been interested in that process but had no idea where to start.

Happy Thanksgiving! You WILL remember to come in from your putzing workshop for dinner, right?

Barb…

To make the log graphics, I “borrowed” the corner of a vintage tin log cabin…then with Microsoft Paint and lots of selecting, copying, stretching and pasting I made the wall graphics…

The brick graphics were done in sort of the same way…I first drew about six old weathered looking brick shapes with colored pencils, crayons and markers…after scanning I selected, copied and pasted them to make a wall of continuous bricks…

Not really difficult…just time consuming…and if I can do it…I know you can…

Howard…
