Post subject:  Every Putztown needs...a Ford Rotunda!

Since the real structure was destroyed by fire in 1962, we have 55 years or artistic license to customize the unique shape to better fit in a small scale Putztown. Included are pics from around the web to give the general idea of the shape. The central section would obviously need the most creativity. I think it would have to be layered up with various sizes of corrugated foil to get the look. And so far, I can't find a paper crimper that will make anything but one size. Some have used a Fiskars crimper and aluminum pans to create corrugated metal panels for barns and roof sections. So I really am asking for advice on where to get a tool (or tools) that can make successively smaller corrugations so the vertical peaks can line up in spite of tighter radius concentric circles. I hope that makes sense.

All advice would be appreciated. I really would like to create a reasonable replica as a sort of Christmas ornament for a friend for Christmas this year. Yes, 2017, THIS year!

DC, very cool building. I think you could use corrugated board from little coffee holders that they give you at Starbucks or Panera. The insides of them are just open corrugation. They also sell sheets of it at Micheal's for $1 or $2 in the scrapbook section.

Thanks, BrianB. I have considered open corrugated material, but the actual building would have featured differing sizes of material to maintain vertical alignment up through the four layers. That may be impossible to recreate, especially in the absence of being able to create my own corrugated material. Maybe I will try laying it out on thick paper and making my own folds. I can only go crazy once, right?

I've had a hard time finding different size of corrugated board as well. I've only found 2 that are readily available. The fiskars you mentioned sound cool! Good luck with your project, its such a neat one. I may try and give it a whirl sometime, I grew up in a Ford household. My dad and brother both have classic Fords from the 50s they are restoring.
