Angel choir decoration reproduction…2022 project number 19

Greetings to all...
I know this piece is a little on the “kitschy” side compared to practically everything else I’ve made…but a little dose of “kitschy” once in a while is probably OK...…
Our forum friend, Lucy, shared a picture with me from a social media site…I estimate the original was at least 12” tall…probably closer to 15”…I knew I had to build my version…but scaled down to around 7” tall…
Patterns for the main parts are in the PDF…and here are some notes about the other parts...
Angels…2 1/2” tall plastic…a lucky online find…marked Germany on the bottom…other figures could be used…perhaps some of those cast resin ones…
Base and arch…packing foam from ready-to-assemble furniture laminated with cardboard on both sides…edges are banded with cardboard strips…
Columns…couldn’t find right diameter cardboard tube…so I used 2 7/8” long pieces of wooden broomstick which were close to 3/4” in diameter…caps are thick cardboard with wooden finials from craft store…
Window mullion…hand cut card stock pained metallic gold and backed with red foil…
Candles…cardboard and bamboo skewers…
Organ pipes…paper lollipop sticks, cardboard and a bit of foam…
Gold trim…found at Hobby Lobby in sewing notions…round piece at the peak was salvaged from Dresden foil and glued behind a star cut from gold foil card stock…
I'll post pictures and details about the construction in a week or so...stay tuned...
My very best regards…
Howard…
