Hello fellow hobbyists. I was helping out one of our members that is going to reproduce one of the Vintage Giants Putz House. As long as I was sending him this information I thought I might share with you as well. There was a unique roof treatment that the Japanese artisans used on the vintage Giant and Semi-Giant Putz House. They used rumbled up colored foil then glued a glossy clear cellophane over that making the foil looking smooth and shiny. Then they would give it a snow treatment which was white stucco impregnated with white coconut. For fun I've added the Giant Mansion that is twined to a Semi-Giant. Same structure, different scale , different color scheme.

1st picture is the giant and it's proper colors.
2nd picture is the Semi-Giant with Large Girl with Doll
The roof on these houses is rumpled foil covered
with clear cellophane covered with with stucco
and white coconut. (see photo).

Thanks for posting these. I can’t recall any discussion thread or dialog on these beautiful foil roofs. Would never have guessed there was a cellophane ‘skin’. You never cease to amaze me!

Yikes, I never added the cellophane over the foil roofs I've but thanks to your great info I'll be attaching the cellophane. Thanks Pete!!
