I've almost finished the Black Hat Inn.

The scary tree is covered with glow in the dark glitter. I made the cauldron out of polymer clay. The brooms are stained toothpicks with sisal as broom straws.

Need to do:
1. Drill hole at peak of hat for small dowel for Black Hat Inn banner and possible rotating witches (I think I've figured out how to do it)
2. Glue down tree, cauldron, ghost, brooms
3. Cut circular orange glittered piece to form the hat band (the one there is temporary)
4. Signs - Black Hat Inn in front, Free Parking where the brooms are, maybe a vacancy sign, Black Hat Inn sign for the ghost doorman to hold
5. Black glitter on the fence to cover up some glue and gaps in the fencing
6. Scattered glitter on the base
7. Vacuum kitty hair (should do before any more glittering)

Ok. This is the completed Black Hat Inn with Howard's suggestions in place - the rotating witches and the ghost doorman in place.

Well, not really completed as I have not vacuumed the kitty hair or patched a few fence gaps, or dusted on a little more glitter, but enough that I couldn't wait to post this picture. The cardboard witches are attached to a gear cardboard cutout with what is called a jump ring and a eye pin, like dangly earrings. I did it that way largely because I thought I could do it easier than bending wire to a precise angle. There is a small cardboard piece below them to hold the gear in place. There is a similar piece on the Black Hat Inn sign to give a little space for the witches to rotate. The back of the Black Hat Inn sign says "Come Fly with Us". I may put a little pumpkin or bat or a small pennant that says "Vacancy" on top of the skewer to finish it off a little better.

Lucy, I love everything about this. The signs are a great addition. You are right to be proud of it. ;-)

Thank you, Lynn. That was a fun project. I will probably make some more Black Hat Houses. It gets easier the second and third times, right?
